Emirati forces rejected efforts to release a prominent leader of the Islah party, who was arrested a few days ago while trying to enter Mukalla.

According to sources in the local authority in Hadramout, the governor of the conference, Mabhout bin Madi, and the commander of the Second Military, contacted the coalition operations room in Mukalla in an attempt to release the leader of the Islah party, Awad al-Duqail, but the Emirati officers refused this under the pretext of his relationship with terrorism.

Members of the Al-Shaqeen checkpoint in Broome district, in which the Transitional Council’s factions are stationed, arrested Al-Duqail upon his return from Aden on a mass transit bus, according to a statement by the Islah Party. Al-Duqail’s fate has not been known since his arrest on Friday evening.

In its statement, the party stated that it had communicated with the governor of Hadramout and the commander of the Second Military, who confirmed their efforts to solve the problem.
