In the past few hours, a prominent tribal sheikh was subjected to an assassination attempt in Lahj Governorate, southern Yemen.
The sheikh of the Al-Hawashab tribes, Alaa Sorour Al-Hushbi, said in a statement that gunmen belonging to the commander of the Abyan axis loyal to the Transitional Council, Mukhtar Al-Nubi, ambushed his convoy while it was passing through the Al-Mallah Al-Raha area.
The statement confirmed that the transitional forces are seeking to get rid of him because of his refusal to rob lands belonging to the Hawasib tribes by the pro-UAE council factions.
Sheikh Al-Hushbi denounced the attempt to target him, indicating that the Emirati faction is practicing the worst types of violations against the people and tribes of Lahj Governorate.
The assassination attempt coincided with the recent escalation of tensions between the STC and the tribes of the province.
