A judge revealed that a group of soldiers in the forces loyal to the UAE kidnapped and raped a child in Hodeidah Governorate, western Yemen.
Judge Arafat Jaafar said, in a post on his Facebook page, “At exactly 12 p.m. on the evening of Tuesday, August 22, 2023, a soldier named Abdo Muhammad Qwaisim (25 years old), leading an armed gang, kidnapped the child, Intisar Abdo Saleh Ghaleb Al-Qasimi (11). (years old) from her father’s house located in the village of Al-Wa’ra in Al-Khawkha District, and he took her on board one of the crews to Jabal Al-Nar, east of the city of Mokha, then to Al-Khabt, and raped her.
He added “The girl’s father informed the police department at the time, but they changed the report and failed to catch the perpetrators. Some of those involved, accompanied by security men, chased the girl’s father to imprison him and force him to marry her to the kidnapper, which prompted him to flee to Al-Wazi’iyah and take refuge with one of its sheikhs. The security continued to cover up the perpetrators and be negligent in their treatment.” They were arrested for 12 days even though the police station was next to their homes.”
