The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has affirmed that the criminal Saudi regime continues to target civilian objects, the latest being its targeting of the Mayyun Island lighthouse.
In a statement issued Saturday, the ministry affirmed that targeting the marine lighthouse on Mayyun Island—a civilian navigational facility—constitutes a “flagrant violation of international law and international humanitarian law.” It noted that targeting the lighthouse will cast a shadow over the safety of maritime navigation in Bab al-Mandab.
The statement called on the international community and relevant organizations, foremost among them the International Maritime Organization, to condemn this aggression and take practical measures to protect civilian and navigational facilities and prevent the recurrence of such attacks.
It warned of the Saudi regime’s continued militarization of the Bab al-Mandab Strait and the Red Sea and its transformation of them into a war zone. It affirmed that navigation in Bab al-Mandab and the Red Sea is safe and that “whoever threatens it is the criminal Saudi regime.”
