An investigation conducted by BBC has revealed details of the United Arab Emirates sending supplies, including unmanned combat aerial vehicles (UCAVs ) to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Sudan, exacerbating the country’s ongoing internal conflict for over a year.
The investigation highlighted how foreign-manufactured drones have become a significant player in the Sudanese war between the army and the RSF, changing the course of the conflict on the ground since their appearance late last year.
The RSF has acquired modified commercial drones capable of launching projectiles. Experts interviewed by the BBC accused the United Arab Emirates of supplying the RSF with these drones through a dedicated airlift bridge for weapon transportation.
In the investigation, BBC Arabic analyzed dozens of video clips and documented the new weapons and drones obtained by the conflicting parties since the beginning of the war, detailing their arrival in Sudan and how they have changed the course of the conflict.
