A major fire broke out on Friday in one of the main commercial marketplaces south of the capital, Sana’a, and was extinguished by the Civil Defense.
Colonel Muhammad Ahmed Bahish, Director of Civil Defense in the capital Sanaa, stated that Civil Defense vehicles responded quickly to the call and were able to extinguish a huge fire that broke out in four stores in Shumila Market.
Colonel Bahish stated that civil defense personnel contained the fire with the assistance of residents and documented material damage in several shops while no human casualties were recorded..
Colonel Bahish pointed out that civil defense men controlled the fire with the cooperation of citizens and recorded material damage in some stores without recording any human casualties.
He added that investigations are underway to find out the causes of the fire.
