Tens of thousands attend funeral prayer for Ismail Haniyeh in Doha

Tens of thousands of people gathered at the Imam Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab Mosque in Doha, Qatar, to attend the funeral prayer for Ismail Haniyeh, head of the political bureau of Hamas who was killed by Israel earlier this week.

The funeral prayer was attended by the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, his father, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, the Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, as well as official delegations and leaders from Hamas and Palestinian factions.

Meanwhile, Yemenis across the country held absentee funeral prayer for assassinated Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh after Friday’s prayer.

On Thursday afternoon, the bodies of Ismail Haniyeh and his bodyguard, the martyr Wassim Abu Shaaban, arrived in Qatar’s capital, Doha.

The coffins of the two martyrs were received in Doha by a number of Hamas leaders, in addition to members of Haniyeh’s family.
