Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Samir Bajaala discussed today with the Undersecretary of the Central Bureau of Statistics Fares Al-Jahmi the results of the field survey team for samples of the disabled in several areas in Al-Mahwit Governorate.
The meeting reviewed the mechanisms through which data is collected and analyzed, as the number of families surveyed by the team reached 1400 families. He stressed the importance of completing the survey process as scheduled in this aspect.
He referred to the preliminary results of the survey, which showed that the causes of disability are mostly due to consanguineous and early marriage, traffic accidents, malnutrition, aggression, and the remnants of war.
Minister Bajaala stressed the importance of the role of the Central Bureau of Statistics in supporting the ministry’s efforts to obtain accurate information and data on the disabled, causes, and types of disability to develop appropriate plans for social welfare and services necessary for this segment.
Al-Jahmi praised the efforts of the Ministry of Social Affairs to help persons with disabilities with the economic, educational, and vocational empowerment they need, to make them active and productive members of society.
