Beirut: Massive Demonstration On Airport Road In Denunciation Of Israeli Intervention, Violation Of Sovereignty

Thousands of Lebanese citizens have gathered in a sit-in called for by Hezbollah on Saturday on the old road leading to Beirut International Airport in protest against the Israeli enemy’s violations of Lebanese sovereignty and in rejection of submitting to Israeli threats.

According to al-Manar TV website, the protesters demanded that the Lebanese state work to return the Lebanese stranded in Tehran, after the authorities prevented the Iranian “Mahan” plane from landing in Beirut, which was carrying more than 350 Lebanese citizens who were on a religious visit to Iran.

The issue of the Lebanese stranded in Iran is still escalating, as the failure to resolve this file has ignited the street again, as angry protesters blocked the road to Rafic Hariri International Airport, demanding that the state work to return the visitors, whose number is estimated at about 350 people, in addition to not continuing to submit to external dictates and sell Lebanese sovereignty for a cheap price.

According to the same source, the decision to prevent the Iranian plane from landing in Beirut came after an Israeli threat to the airport, where the government complied with these threats and cancelled the permission granted to the Iranian company “Mahan” to reach the airport.

The Israeli threat angered the Lebanese street, especially since it constitutes a clear violation of Lebanese sovereignty over a basic public facility, which is Beirut Airport.
