Mahra People Reject The UAE-backed Transitional Council

The visit of the head of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) was met with widespread ridicule in Al Mahrah Governorate after his arrival to inaugurate fictitious projects, adding to the popular discontent already exacerbated by the STC’s policies in the eastern governorate.

Days after the Mahrah sit-in condemned the STC forces’ removal of the Yemeni flag from the Republican Palace in Ghaydah, the head of the Mahri Peaceful Movement, Salem Kalshat Al Mahri, affirmed the people of Al Mahrah’s rejection of the coalition’s attempts to impose a new reality in the governorate, which borders the Sultanate of Oman.

Tribal Sheikh Kalshat addressed the head of the UAE-backed STC, Aidarous Al Zubaidi, upon his arrival at the head of a military force of more than 120 armored vehicles to the city of Al Ghaydah.

He said, “Respect yourself. We, the people of Al Mahrah, refuse to raise the flag of the Southern Transitional Council on our land. You can raise it in Al Dhale’e and Aden, but Al Mahrah has its own flag, identity, and ancient history.”

He added that the people of Al Mahrah reject any attempts to erase their identity or impose any form of forceful control over their lands.

The head of the Mahri Movement pointed out that the people of Mahra cling to their identity and independent decision-making, stressing that the governorate will remain a symbol of security, stability, and coexistence, far from any external conflicts.
