Israeli army radio revealed details on Sunday about the ambush that occurred yesterday in Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip, when a force from the Yahalom engineering unit was ambushed.
The ambush resulted in the deaths of an officer and a soldier from the force operating under the Golani Brigade in the Rafah area.
According to the radio, during the combing operation, at approximately 5:30 PM, an explosive device exploded inside the tunnel opening, killing an officer and a soldier and wounding two others, one of whom is in critical condition.
According to the radio, the force conducted preliminary sweeps inside the building and the tunnel opening before entering, but despite this, the explosive device was not discovered.
According to Haaretz, the number of soldiers killed in Gaza has reached six since Israel decided to violate the ceasefire.
The newspaper revealed that a large number of officers and soldiers notified their commanders of their intention not to commit to fighting as part of the expanded Gaza operation.
