Deadly tribal clashes continued on Sunday between the Al Shabwan and Al Nussaib tribes in the Wadi Obeida area of the oil-rich Marib governorate, leaving dozens dead and injured.
Local sources reported that the clashes erupted early on Sunday over a long-running tribal vendetta following the killing of a tribal figure, before rapidly escalating into heavy armed confrontations involving medium and heavy weapons in residential areas.
They said the clashes caused panic among residents, particularly women and children, and caused damage to homes and private property.
Casualty figures were not immediately confirmed, though sources reported fatalities and injuries on both sides as tensions continued.
In recent hours, tribal and community figures in Marib have called for immediate mediation to halt the violence and prevent further bloodshed, warning that continued fighting could deepen social divisions and instability in the province.
Local mediators from the Obeida area have reportedly been working to broker a ceasefire between the two sides, amid broader appeals for dialogue and respect for tribal norms aimed at preventing further escalation.
Residents said the clashes have severely disrupted daily life and heightened fear among civilians, as fighting continues in residential areas.
