Qalibaf: We Agreed to Establish Mechanism by Which Iran and US Will Guarantee Safety, Sovereignty of Lebanese Territory

The Speaker of the Iranian Shura Council, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, confirmed on Monday evening that during the negotiations with the United States in Switzerland, it was agreed to establish a mechanism by which Tehran and Washington would guarantee the safety and sovereignty of Lebanese territory.

Qalibaf said in a statement to journalists, according to Iran’s Fars News Agency, that this file will remain on the consultation table until a “final result” is reached.

He added that the ceasefire has contributed to the return of a wide segment of the population to their areas in Lebanon, expressing his confidence that the decisions taken in the current phase will contribute to enhancing stability.

He continued: “We are determined to move forward with strength until the unity of Lebanese territory and its national sovereignty are fully achieved.”

The head of the Iranian negotiating delegation pointed out that the ongoing consultations aim to ensure the extension of Lebanese sovereignty over the entire territory of the country, affirming that this goal will not be abandoned before reaching a final settlement that guarantees Lebanon’s safety and unity.
