Abu Obeida calls on Palestinians to defend Aqsa on arson attack anniversary

Abu Obeida, spokesperson for the Al-Qassam Brigades, called on Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem to defend Aqsa Mosque, their land and their honor, rise up against the Israeli occupation, confront settlers, and avenge those killed.

The Al-Qassam spokesperson made the remarks on the anniversary of the arson attack on Aqsa Mosque, amid escalating Israeli violations.

Abu Obeida also mourned Fathi Khazem, known as “Abu Raad,” calling him the “father of martyrs” and a “hero of Jenin,” after he was killed by Israeli forces earlier today. He also said Khazem had now joined Abu Shanab, Al-Attar, Abu Shamala, Barhoum, and all Palestinian martyrs killed by “Israel.”

The Aqsa Mosque arson attack took place in 1969 and was carried out by Australian national Michael Dennis Rohan. The fire destroyed the contents of the eastern wing of the Qibli Mosque in the southern part of the Aqsa compound, including its historic pulpit, known as the Minbar of Saladin.
