US Senator Bernie Sanders criticized today, Sunday, President Donald Trump’s threat to punish a journalist at NBC News over a report that examined the results of his endorsements of a number of candidates.
Sanders said in a post on the “X” platform, monitored by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), that Trump, “like all authoritarian rulers, wants to silence those who disagree with him,” referring to Trump’s threat to take action against journalist Kristen Welker after she published a report describing Trump’s endorsement record as having produced mixed results.
Sanders added: “Sorry, Mr. President, in America we believe in democracy and the First Amendment,” calling for resistance to attempts to restrict press freedom.
