The Eye of Humanity Center for Rights and Development has condemned the Saudi airstrike on commercial shops at the Central Taiz Market near the Mawiyah Junction in Al-Taiziyah district, holding the Saudi regime fully responsible for the deadly escalation against civilians.
The center said in a statement that the attack killed seven civilians and injured 40 others, including five children, after Saudi aircraft struck a crowded commercial market.
It called for an independent and transparent investigation into the attack and for those responsible to be held accountable.
The center warned that repeated attacks on markets and commercial facilities are causing civilian casualties while destroying businesses and livelihoods relied upon by entire families.
It said its documentation records 5,254 casualties from attacks on markets in Yemen since the start of the Saudi aggression, including 2,139 killed — among them 496 children — and 3,115 injured, including 407 children.
The center called on the United Nations and international and human rights organizations to document the Taiz market attack and other attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure, preserve evidence, and ensure accountability for any serious violations of international humanitarian law established through independent investigations.
