The Head of the National Negotiation Delegation, Mohammed Abdulsalam, has on Thursday revealed that he has had a meeting with the British ambassador to Yemen, Michael Aaron in the Omani capital of Muscat in order to discuss a political settlement to end the war.
Abdulsalam said that the British ambassador reiterated his country’s conviction that the solution in Yemen could onl happen by a comprehensive political settlement, especially after Yemen conflict has started sliding into difficult-to-control areas.
The fact that a direct meeting between the chief diplomat of the National Salvation Government and a British ambassador has taken place, is an historic event in the history of the present conflict. The meeting possibly marks a change in attitude by the British government towards the ongoing conflict plaguing Yemen.
The United Kingdom has been a staunch supporter of the Saudi-led invasion ever since 2015, and has provided the Saudi and Emirati invaders with massive financial and military assistance, as well as military intelligence support.
