55 Yemeni fishermen Are released from Eritrea’s prisons

Deputy Director General of Fish Associations, Murad Tarmoum, revealed that there are 200 Yemeni fishermen in Eritrea’s prisons.

Tarmoum confirmed in a statement that the Eritrean authorities released 55 Yemeni fishermen in batches, two months after they were kidnapped in international waters in the Red Sea.

Tarmum said, “The released fishermen arrived on the coast of Abu Zahr in Al-Khawkha District after the Eritrean Navy detained them since mid-August and took them to its detention centers on Tarmah Island after the Eritrean authorities confiscated their boats and equipment, in addition to being subjected to torture, starvation, and hard labor during the period of their kidnapping.
