Iranian President-elect Masoud Pezeshkian praised the “courageous decision” of the Yemeni leadership and people to support the Palestinian people.

Pezeshkian’s remarks came during a Sunday phone call with Yemen’s President Mehdi Mohammed Al-Mashat.

Al-Mashat congratulated Pezeshkian on his election victory and on gaining the trust of the Iranian people.

He said the success of the elections in Iran is considered a victory for the Iranian people and the Islamic Revolution. He also thanked the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and the Iranian nation for their support of Palestinians.

Meanwhile, Pezeshkian said the Yemenis entered this battle with all courage and expressed confidence that the Iranian people and all free nations will appreciate Yemen’s support for Palestine under the ongoing difficult circumstances. He criticized certain Muslim countries for acting only by their interests and issuing statements.

Pezeshkian pointed out that the “bitter events in the region stem from the presence of Israel and the subversive policies of the West.”

He further thanked Mashat for offering congratulations on his victory in the Iranian presidential election. He noted that Iran and Yemen enjoy deep-rooted commonalities but that Tehran seeks to further promote mutual relations.

The Iranian president-elect expressed hope that the siege on the Yemeni people would be lifted and that peace would be established in the country. He wished success, progress, and prosperity for the Yemeni leadership and people.
