The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas mourned the martyred leader Yahya Sinwar, nicknamed “Abu Ibrahim,” the head of the movement’s political bureau and the commander of the “Al-Aqsa Flood” battle, on Friday.
“With all the pride, dignity, and honour, the Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, mourns to our Palestinian people, to our entire nation, and to the free people of the world, one of the noblest and bravest men, a man who dedicated his life for Palestine and gave his soul for the sake of Allah on the path to its liberation. He was true to Allah, and Allah was true to him, choosing him as a martyr alongside his fellow martyrs,” Hamas said in a statement.
“We mourn the great national leader, the Mujahid Martyr Brother Yahya Al-Sinwar (Abu Ibrahim), Head of the Political Bureau of the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas and Commander of the Al-Aqsa Flood Battle.”
Earlier, Khalil Al-Hayya, the Deputy Head of the Political Bureau and Head of the Arab and Islamic Relations Office in Hamas, announced the martyrdom of the great leader, President of the Hamas Political Bureau, the hero of Al-Aqsa Flood, Yahya Sinwar, who sought martyrdom and attained it after clashing with a Zionist force alongside other fighters in the Gaza Strip.
In a televised address on Friday, Al-Hayya stated: “Leader Yahya Sinwar ascended as a martyr, bold and unwavering until the last moment of his life, remaining steadfast on the ground of Gaza and inspiring the spirit of resilience.”
He added, “The martyr leader Sinwar overcame his captors and continued his contributions and jihad after being freed from prison, until he earned the most honourable status of being a martyr.”
He further emphasised that “this blood will continue to serve as a motivator for more resilience and steadfastness, and Hamas will remain committed to the path of the martyrs until full liberation. The martyrdom of leader Sinwar and the leaders and symbols of the movement will only strengthen our movement and resistance, making us more resolute and determined to follow in their footsteps.”
Regarding the issue of prisoner exchange with the occupation, Al-Hayya confirmed, “These Zionist prisoners will not return to you, except in return for a complete withdrawal from Gaza, cessation of aggression, and the release of prisoners. We are committed to the Hamas approach.”
