The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates on Wednesday condemned in the strongest terms America’s use of the veto against the draft resolution submitted by the non-permanent member states of the Security Council, which calls for an immediate end to the Zionist aggression on Gaza.

Official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates ambassador Wahid al-Shami confirmed in a statement that America’s use of the veto reaffirms that it is a partner in the aggression on Gaza and bears responsibility for the genocidal war that has been taking place for more than a year, which has resulted in the martyrdom of approximately 44,000 martyrs and more than 104,000 wounded, most of whom are women and children.

He pointed out that America has used the veto dozens of times over the past seven decades to protect the Zionist entity and prevent the condemnation of its crimes in the occupied Palestinian territories.

He stated that the Security Council’s inability to carry out its responsibilities of maintaining international peace and security necessitates reforming its current situation, which has led to a loss of confidence in this international organization.

He pointed out that the time has come to make a real reform in the decision-making mechanism, abolish the veto right, and make a change in permanent and non-permanent membership so that the Council is more representative and reflects the balance of power in today’s world.

Ambassador al-Shami reiterated the firm position of the Republic of Yemen in support of the Palestinian people and their valiant resistance in the face of the barbaric Zionist aggression.
