The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources strongly condemned the blatant attack carried out by the so-called Al-Amaliqa Forces, affiliated with the mercenary commander Abu Zar’a Al-Mahrami, a member of the so-called Presidential Leadership Council, on the fishermen’s boats at Al-Amoudi Port in the city of Mocha.
In a statement, the Ministry described the destruction and burial of the boats using rocks and heavy machinery, under the pretext of building a barrier, as a flagrant violation of the fishermen’s rights and an attack on their only source of livelihood, which they rely on to support their families.
The statement emphasized that such actions reflect a disregard for citizens’ rights and livelihoods, exacerbating their economic suffering.
The statement also indicated that this irresponsible act causes significant damage to the national economy and the marine environment, threatening social security in the region.
It called for the injustices suffered by the fishermen to be rectified, for them to be compensated for the damages, and for Abu Zar’a Al-Mahrami to be held accountable as he is responsible for this incident.
The Ministry of Agriculture called on judicial authorities to open an urgent investigation to hold those responsible for these violations accountable and ensure they are not repeated in the future.
The ministry also expressed its full solidarity with the affected fishermen and its readiness to provide all necessary support to safeguard their rights and ensure a safe and stable environment for work in the fishing sector.
