The Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, announced that they would hand over the bodies of four Israeli prisoners tonight to the International Red Cross, as part of the seventh batch in the first phase of the prisoner exchange deal.
In a statement, Al-Qassam spokesperson Abu Obeida said: “As part of the Al-Aqsa Flood deal for prisoner exchange, the Martyr Izz El-Din Al-Qassam Brigades have decided to hand over the bodies of the following Zionist captives tonight: Tsahi Idan, Ohad Yahalomi, Itzik Elgarat, and Shlomo Mantzur.”
Preparations are underway at the European Gaza Hospital in Khan Younis, located in the southern Gaza Strip, to receive the freed prisoners as part of the seventh batch of the exchange deal, the Prisoners’ Media Office reported earlier on Wednesday.
The prisoners are expected to arrive between 10:00 PM and midnight.
On Saturday, the occupation government postponed the release of the seventh batch of Palestinian detainees in a new violation of the first stage of the ceasefire agreement.
The seventh batch was made up of 402 Palestinians, including 50 detainees who had been serving life terms, 60 serving long sentences, 47 who were re-arrested after the Shalit prisoner exchange deal, and 445 from the Gaza Strip, who were arrested during the Israeli occupation’s aggression on the Strip after 7 October 2023.
