The Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Sheikh Naim Qassem, called for “broad” participation in the funeral of Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and Sayyed Hashem Safieddine on February 23rd.
This came during his speech on Sunday evening, marking the annual commemoration of Hezbollah’s martyred leaders.
Regarding the Israeli occupation, Sheikh Qassem emphasized that “on February 18th, Israel must withdraw from all Lebanese territories it occupied during its aggression.”
He further emphasized, “There is no justification for the continued occupation, and the position of the Lebanese state must be firm and decisive.”
He continued, “We will not abandon the people, neither in sheltering, nor in restoration, nor in reconstruction. God willing, the homes will return better than before.”
He clarified that “The country can only be rebuilt through the cooperation of all parties, and we are ready for that and for implementing the necessary reforms.”
Regarding US President Donald Trump’s Gaza plans, Sheikh Qassem deemed Trump’s stance on the Palestinian issue as highly dangerous, aiming to eradicate Palestine and its people. He characterized these positions as a form of “political genocide,” following the failure of the US-Israeli plans during Operation Al-Aqsa Flood.
Hezbollah’s Sheikh Qassem condemned any attempt to forcibly displace Palestinians from their land, firmly rejecting their relocation to Jordan, Egypt, or Saudi Arabia.
Additionally, Sheikh Qassem warned that every action carried out by the Israeli enemy is under direct US management.
Furthermore, he affirmed that Hezbollah is prepared to contribute to any Arab or Islamic initiative aimed at resisting the displacement of Palestinians.
Regarding the ban on Iranian planes from landing at Beirut Airport, Sheikh Naim Qassem said, ‘There is no justification for preventing an Iranian plane from landing at Beirut International Airport.’
He called on the Lebanese government to “reconsider the decision to prevent Iranian flights and to express its sovereign position.”
