Iran Denies Claims It Seeks Nuclear Weapons

Iran’s mission to international organizations in Vienna rejected recent allegations about its nuclear program, calling claims that Iran seeks nuclear weapons a “big lie” with no evidence, despite repeated accusations.

The mission said Iran has consistently declared it will never develop or possess nuclear weapons, a position it said has been confirmed by the International Atomic Energy Agency and acknowledged by the United Nations Security Council. It added that inspections found no indication of a weapons program or diversion of nuclear material.

It also said U.S. claims contradict intelligence assessments, and dismissed Israeli allegations that Iran is close to producing nuclear weapons, calling them long-standing and unfounded.
