Hamas: Israeli crimes against Journalists will not conceal the truth of its terrorism and criminality in Palestine.

The Islamic Resistance Movement ( Hamas) said that attacks on Palestinian journalists would will not conceal the truth of its terrorism and criminality in Palestine.

Marking World Press Freedom Day, the movement said journalism remains a vital instrument for documenting developments on the ground and conveying Palestinian suffering to the international community.

It accused, in a statement, the occupation of continuing to target journalists and media institutions through killings, arrests, and restrictions on reporting.

The movement said 262 journalists had been killed since the start of the war in Gaza Strip, in addition to dozens detained and hundreds injured, which it said constituted a violation of international laws and conventions.

The statement added that the increased targeting of media workers reflected Israeli concern over the impact of the Palestinian narrative, adding that restrictions on the entry of foreign media into Gaza since October 2023 have hampered independent coverage.

It called on the United Nations and the wider international community to take urgent action to halt violations against journalists, clarify the fate of detainees, and secure their release.

It also urged accountability for Israeli leaders over war crimes committed during the conflict.

The movement’s statement further praised Palestinian journalists continuing their work under dangerous conditions and called on Arab and international media outlets to sustain coverage of developments in Palestine and keep the issue prominent in global public opinion.
