Iran protests against hostile US-Bahraini moves in United Nations

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has dispatched letters to the UN Secretary-General and member states of the Security Council, warning against “hostile” US and Bahraini maneuvers against Iran within the Council.

Araghchi emphasized that the proposed draft resolution regarding the Strait of Hormuz ignores what he described as the primary cause of tension: “US and ‘Israeli’ military aggression against Iran.” He contended that the resolution aims to justify American actions and “distort facts.”

The Foreign Minister pointed out that the draft overlooks Washington’s violations, including the naval blockade and attacks on Iranian vessels. He warned that adopting the resolution would undermine the Security Council’s credibility and grant legitimacy to “unilateral and illegal measures.”

Araghchi stressed that the restoration of normal navigation in the Strait of Hormuz is contingent upon ending the war and lifting sanctions on Iran, calling on member states to withhold support for the US-Bahraini draft resolution.
