The spokesperson for the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Iranian Parliament (Majlis), Hassan Ghashghavi, announced today, Sunday, the approval of Article 5 of the “Strategic Action for Security and Development of the Strait of Hormuz” bill, which stipulates the collection of fees for services provided to ships transiting the strait.
According to Iran’s Tasnim news agency, Ghashghavi stated in a press statement following the committee meeting that the article was approved during the continued discussion of the bill, explaining that the fees will include maritime navigation and environmental services, fuel supply under special conditions, insurance and safety, as well as other services.
He pointed out that the meeting also discussed mechanisms related to “hostile countries and the Strait of Hormuz.”
