13 Workers Killed, 66 Injured in Explosion at Factory in Ras Laffan Industrial Area, Qatar

The Qatari Ministry of Interior announced on Monday that 13 workers were killed and 66 others were injured in an explosion at a factory in the Ras Laffan Industrial Area, northeast of Qatar.

The Ministry explained, according to the Qatar News Agency, that the competent authorities are continuing their procedures to investigate the circumstances of the incident, which occurred at a factory in Ras Laffan Industrial City due to a technical malfunction during operation, to precisely determine its technical causes, and to take the necessary measures in accordance with the applicable legal and technical frameworks.

It stated that immediately after the incident, the relevant security agencies, in coordination with the emergency response teams in Ras Laffan Industrial City, initiated their procedures at the site according to approved plans. The injured were transported to receive necessary medical care, while search operations at the site were completed.

The Ministry of Interior also confirmed that no leakage resulting from the incident was detected that could pose a risk to the safety of individuals or the surrounding environment.
