Al-Jawf records wheat production exceeding one million sacks during agricultural season

Al-Jawf’s agriculture sector official, Mahdi Al-Dhameen, announced a strategic success for the agricultural season in wheat production across the governorate.

Al-Dhameen said field statistical data collected so far confirmed that wheat production had surpassed one million sacks, describing the achievement as a qualitative leap that contributes to reducing dependence on foreign imports and strengthening the country’s food security.

He also revealed the financial and production indicators achieved during the current agricultural season, noting that total production reached 1,021,901 sacks of wheat, with an estimated value of 15.1 billion Yemeni riyals.

According to Al-Dhameen, the season also provided employment for around 10,000 workers, benefiting tens of thousands of rural families.

He pointed out that the current figures only reflect the data that has been fully collected and processed, as statistics from two districts have not yet been completed, in addition to large quantities of wheat whose detailed data has not yet been received.

This, he said, confirms that the governorate’s actual total production likely exceeds the announced figures, adding that Al-Jawf has effectively become Yemen’s grain reservoir.

Al-Dhameen praised the high level of awareness among farmers in the governorate, reflected in the strong agricultural loan repayment rate, which he said would help ensure the sustainability of support and continued agricultural production in future seasons.

The agriculture sector official also expressed appreciation for the efforts of farmers and what he described as the “soldiers of the agricultural front,” praising their role in achieving the production milestone and strengthening national food security.
