The Israeli occupation navy detained nine fishermen on Tuesday while they were working at sea off the coasts of Gaza City and Deir al-Balah, amid ongoing targeting of fishermen and restrictions preventing them from carrying out their work, according to the Palestinian news agency WAFA.
The Fishermen’s Committees in Gaza reported that Israeli naval boats detained the fishermen while they were practicing their profession off the shores of Gaza City and Deir al-Balah, and took them to an unknown location.
The detention comes as part of ongoing violations against Palestinian fishermen in the Gaza Strip, which include detention, live fire, and the confiscation of boats and fishing equipment.
