Senior Hamas official Taher an-Nunu has said that progress has been made in the Cairo talks over the Gaza Strip during the past few days.
“The Hamas delegation, alongside other national parties, has prepared a joint and responsible response to the roadmap presented by mediators to complete the implementation of president Trump’s plan,” Nunu said in press remarks on Tuesday.
“Discussions and deliberations over the implementation of the ceasefire agreement are still ongoing,” Nunu said, adding that these talks cover all outstanding issues of the first phase.
“These talks include securing the political rights of the Palestinian people, expediting the deployment of the national administration committee to assume its full responsibilities in the Gaza Strip, and scaling up the delivery of humanitarian aid. They also focus on initiating relief and reconstruction, ensuring a complete Israeli withdrawal from the entire Strip, and guaranteeing the safety of the Palestinian people,” he explained.
Nunu said that the Hamas delegation, led by Khalil al‑Hayya, held a series of intensive meetings in Cairo that included talks with the Qatari premier and the intelligence chiefs of Egypt and Turkey.
The delegation also conducted numerous meetings with mediators and national parties participating in the negotiations, according to Nunu.
“The Hamas delegation, alongside leaders of national and Islamic factions, maintained a highly positive and responsible approach during the talks, aiming to secure an agreement acceptable to all parties,” the Hamas official affirmed
“For the fourth consecutive day, negotiations remain underway in Cairo with the participation of the Egyptian and Turkish intelligence chiefs and the Qatari prime minister. These talks are being held in coordination with US envoy Steve Witkoff and Nickolay Mladenov, the high representative of the Board of Peace.
