The Yemeni parliament affirmed its full support for the legitimate national stances and choices in defense of the homeland and its sovereignty.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Parliament said the armed forces’ stance comes as an inevitable response to the legitimate demands of the Yemeni people — foremost among them the lifting of the unjust blockade imposed by the Saudi regime for nearly 12 years, which has caused what is widely described as the world’s largest humanitarian catastrophe.
The statement noted that instead of responding to calls for peace and meeting humanitarian obligations, Riyadh has persisted in escalation, targeting civilian facilities and infrastructure — beginning with the attack on Sana’a International Airport and extending to the bombardment of Hodeidah, its port, and Kamaran Island — in an effort to deepen the suffering and further isolate the Yemeni people.
It condemned the continued blockade and aggression as unacceptable criminal behavior, affirming that the Yemeni people and their armed forces have the right to take all necessary measures to deter these attacks and restore their legitimate rights.
The Parliament held the Saudi regime fully responsible for the consequences of this dangerous escalation, which threatens regional security and stability.
It called upon Arab, regional, and international parliamentary bodies to denounce Saudi intransigence and aggressive practices that worsen the suffering of the Yemeni people.
It also called for condemnation of Riyadh’s attempts to circumvent previous agreements and disregard the implementation of the peace roadmap and all initiatives aimed at achieving a comprehensive and just settlement.
The Parliament urged these bodies to take courageous stances that pressure for the full reopening of Yemeni ports and airports and the lifting of the blockade as a non-negotiable humanitarian priority.
The statement emphasized that the blockade and starvation of the Yemeni people are unacceptable, and that Yemen’s sovereignty and the security of its people remain a red line that cannot be crossed.
