Spokesperson for Yemen’s Government and acting Minister of Information, Omar al-Bukhaiti, reaffirmed that Yemen’s decision to ban maritime navigation linked to Saudi Arabia will remain in effect as long as Saudi aggression and blockade against Yemen continue.
He stressed that the blockade-for-blockade equation was an irreversible decision, noting that the Yemeni Armed Forces were serious about pursuing all available options to secure the Yemeni people’s rights.
Addressing Saudi Arabia, al-Bukhaiti said it should stop its unjust blockade and aggression against Yemen instead of lamenting the targeted ships.
Yemen announced restrictions on maritime navigation linked to Saudi Arabia as part of a pressure strategy aimed at ending the blockade and Saudi aggression and military actions against Yemen. Yemeni officials have repeatedly said the measures will remain in place until the restrictions imposed on Yemen are lifted.
