Yemen’s President Mahdi Al-Mashat said that Saudi Arabia has failed to restore control over Yemen despite decades of political interference and military intervention, stressing Riyadh is undermining Yemen’s sovereignty and obstructing the country’s development.
In remarks marking the 64th anniversary of the September 26 Revolution, Al-Mashat saluted the Yemeni people, the Armed Forces, security forces and tribes, saying the anniversary comes as Yemen continues to face Saudi aggression and an unjust blockade backed by the United States.
He stated that Saudi Arabia had sought to keep Yemen dependent and weak by influencing state institutions and national decisions, including government formation and senior appointments, while obstructing oil and gas development and efforts to build a strong national army.
He linked Saudi policies toward Yemen to a broader US-Israeli project aimed at weakening the region and perpetuating dependency and division.
Regarding the September 21 Revolution, Al-Mashat pointed out that external powers had opposed the movement and that Saudi military intervention had failed to undermine it, attributing its survival to the Yemeni people’s determination to defend their sovereignty.
The President also defended Yemen’s actions against Saudi-backed deployments on the western coast as an exercise of national sovereignty, saying that Yemen’s threat comes from those who enabled foreign intervention and exploitation, rather than those defending the country’s borders.
On Palestine, Al-Mashat reaffirmed Yemen’s support for the Palestinian cause, condemned Israeli actions against Al-Aqsa Mosque and expressed Yemen’s readiness to defend the Holy Mosque, while saying Yemen reserves its legal and moral right in response to injustice and false accusations against the country.
