Yemeni authorities in the capital Sana’a, held on Saturday an official and popular reception for prisoners freed by the Yemeni armed forces from the Saudi-run prisons in districts of the western coast.

During the reception, head of the Prisoners Affairs Committee Abdulqader Al-Murtadha revealed that 210 freed prisoners were received on Saturday after being released from prisons in the western coast.

In a news statement, he said the freed prisoners were among those agreed to be exchanged under the latest agreement, which the enemy subsequently obstructed, causing the deal to fail.
“All these prisoners were freed, along with hundreds of detainees who were released after the Saudi enemy’s military buildups were expelled during a large-scale military operation carried out by Yemen’s armed forces under the name ‘Allah Is Stronger in Might and More Severe in Punishment,’” he said.
Al-Murtadha explained that the freed prisoners had spent between five and eight years in prisons run by Saudi-backed forces on the western coast, adding that they were all prisoners of war.
He said Saudi-backed forces had previously issued death and prison sentences against a number of the freed prisoners, stressing that the Saudi enemy should learn from what happened on the western coast and move to complete a prisoner exchange deal.
Al-Murtadha also announced Sana’a’s full readiness to complete the exchange deal that was recently agreed upon with the other side.
