Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has declared that the Strait of Hormuz will not return to its pre-war status, stressing that the conflict has fundamentally altered conditions on the ground and that both transit routes and management mechanisms will no longer operate as they once did.
Speaking on the matter, Araghchi explained that for decades the Strait remained open, with neither Iran nor the Sultanate of Oman imposing obstacles to transit. Instead, he said, both nations worked to ensure security, safety and environmental protection in the strategic waterway. The current war, however, “has changed everything,” he said, urging all parties to accept this new reality.
On renewed talk of war, Araghchi said he is weighing its potential repercussions, while stressing that Iran’s policies remain clear regardless of whether hostilities break out again.
He added that the other side should it possess any degree of rationality ought to refrain from launching another military attack or act of aggression against the Iranian people, noting that Iran has faced such scenarios twice before and that the outcomes are well known.
Araghchi concluded by affirming that any repeat of such an attack would yield no different results than those seen in the past.
