Supreme Political Council Member Mohammad Ali al-Houthi has reiterated Ansaruallah’s position on the republican system and the concept of the Imamate in Yemen.

“We are Republicans, and we do not call for the establishment of the Imamate in the state system,” al-Houthi said in a televised interview with Al-Masirah TV Channel on Thursday.

He pointed out that the former regime, referring to the government of Hadi that was overthrown by a popular revolution in 2014, was suffering of old age, and that it considered older leaders as constituting the entire state.

“The former regime refused arbitration of the people’s will, and relied on external intervention to support it.”

He attributed the fall of Hadi’s regime to the overthrow of the will of the people and the mortgage of Yemen to foreign tutelage.

“If the previous government has been patriotic, it would not have resorted to external forces to support it and contribute to the destruction of Yemen and its infrastructure,” al-Houthi affirmed.

Al-Houthi revealed that Saudi Arabia had summoned Hadi’s commander of the Yemeni Air Force, and gave him 500,000 Saudi riyals in exchange for all information about Yemen’s air capabilities.

He noted that “no one who holds reactionary individual rule can come to protect the republic and democracy,” referring to Hadi and his government.

Mohammed al-Houthi also affirmed that the Yemeni people have great political awareness as well as military leaders.

“The Yemeni army was, and is still on side of the September 21 Revolution (…) Like we face aggression in military field fiercely, we will confront it at all levels,” al-Houthi stressed.

On the international level, al-Houthi said that the recent conference of Putin, Rouhani and Erdogan has reflected a positive change in convictions about the aggression on Yemen, affirming that this change was made by “the steadfastness of the Yemeni people. “

“Despite changing international attitudes, Trump’s administration still stand against the political solution in Yemen,” he added, calling on all countries to open common relations with Yemen and the National Salvation Government.
