Iranian Intel : Mossad-Backed Riot Plot Were Prevented

Iran’s Intelligence Ministry announced it has foiled a plot orchestrated by “royalist opponents” with support from Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency, aimed at instigating mass riots in the capital, Tehran. The alleged scheme was intended to follow an Israeli strike on Evin Prison last June.

In a statement released yesterday, Monday, concerning the “silent battle” with the Western intelligence alliance during what it described as a 12-day imposed war against Iran, the ministry stated: “Measures were taken to uncover and thwart the Mossad-affiliated royalists’ plan… to dispatch armed operational teams from across the country to Tehran on June 22nd, to carry out terrorist attacks the following day… including targeting military centers and law enforcement centers near the prison.”

The statement added that “as a result of the operation, more than 120 mercenaries were arrested in 23 regions of the country.”

Last June, Iranian media reported that the Israeli entity launched attacks on some areas of Tehran, including the northern part of the capital.

Iran’s Tasnim news agency later reported that part of the prison’s administrative building was destroyed, and a number of prison staff, inmates, and visitors sustained various injuries.

A few days later, Iranian judiciary spokesman Asghar Jahangir stated that 71 people were killed in the Israeli aggression on Evin Prison.
