Taiz Human Rights Condemns Islah Mercenary Crime

Human rights organizations in Yemen’s Taiz province have condemned in the strongest terms the crime committed by mercenaries of the Islah party, who are affiliated with the Saudi-led coalition. The organizations stated that the group targeted the Al-Aroum area in the Al-Ta’iziyah district.

In a statement, the organizations said that targeting populated areas with rockets is a blatant violation of international laws, norms, and conventions. They added that such acts are considered a war crime and expose their perpetrators to criminal prosecution as war criminals.

The statement noted that the targeting of the Al-Aroum area, specifically Jabal Al-Habil in the Al-Hishma sub-district of Al-Ta’iziyah, with a rocket by Islah party mercenaries led to the death of five children. This attack, the statement said, is part of a recent series of crimes committed by forces loyal to the aggression coalition, which systematically target populated areas. The organizations described the act as a war crime, a crime against humanity, and a violation of a child’s right to life.

The human rights sector in Taiz holds the Islah party mercenaries and the Saudi-led coalition fully responsible for this heinous crime. The statement also called on international and local organizations to assume their humanitarian responsibility by documenting these violations and working to stop these repeated crimes. It urged them to pursue the perpetrators until justice is served and to protect populated areas from being targeted.
