Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Abdul Wahid Abu Ras sent a letter to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the President of the Security Council, which was circulated to all UN member states, the European Union, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, and the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for Yemen, the letter concerns the crime of the Zionist entity targeting the Prime Minister and members of the Government of Change and Construction.
In the letter, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates noted that the Zionist aggression last Thursday targeted the Prime Minister of the Government of Change and Construction and several government members, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates.
He considered the Zionist aggression a flagrant violation of Yemen’s sovereignty, stability, and territorial integrity, as well as of the UN Charter, international law, and international humanitarian law, particularly the Fourth Geneva Convention of 1949 and the First Additional Protocol of 1977, the treacherous and cowardly Zionist aggression also represents a precedent in the history of international relations.
The letter explained that targeting the prime minister and members of the Government of Change and Construction is a full-fledged crime, adding to the series of crimes committed by the usurping Zionist entity against civilians and civilian objects in Yemen since July 20, 2024, which included targeting airports, ports, power stations, factories, and residential neighborhoods.
The letter emphasized that the crimes of the Zionist entity reflect its bankruptcy and failure to achieve any military achievement, as well as its ongoing attempts to seek a false victory, it noted that the international community’s silence on the crimes committed by the usurping Zionist entity in Yemen has encouraged this entity to embark on this dangerous escalation that threatens security and stability in the region and proves once again that this criminal entity poses a threat to the region and the world.
The letter renewed the call for the international community to assume its moral and legal responsibilities, put an end to these crimes committed by the Zionist entity, compel it to comply with international law, achieve accountability, and end the policy of impunity.
The Deputy Foreign Minister emphasized that Yemen’s supportive stance for Gaza is consistent with international law and comes after the failure of the United Nations and the international community to stop the genocide perpetrated against the Palestinian people in Gaza for nearly two years.
He pointed out that Yemen’s moral, humanitarian, and religious stance in support of Gaza will remain steadfast and will continue, regardless of the sacrifices, until the aggression ends and the siege imposed on Gaza is lifted, he explained that the Government of Change and Reconstruction will fulfill its role within the framework of a caretaker government, and that its institutions will continue to provide their services to the Yemeni people.
The letter concluded by emphasizing that the Zionist aggression against Yemen will not go unanswered, as guaranteed by Article (51) of the United Nations Charter and all international norms, charters, and laws.
