WHO: 10 Children die in Gaza from Hypothermia since start of Winter

The World Health Organization (WHO) announced on Tuesday the deaths of ten children in the Gaza Strip due to hypothermia since the beginning of winter.

In a post on its X platform, monitored by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), the organization stated that children and families living in poorly insulated temporary shelters are facing dire conditions as the weather gets colder and heavy rains fall, with little protection from the elements.

The WHO added that winter conditions, coupled with severe overcrowding and a lack of water and sanitation, increase the risk of disease outbreaks, with a rise in cases of acute respiratory infections and the number of critical cases requiring intensive care.

The organization affirmed its continued support for health facilities with essential medicines and equipment, reiterating its call for unimpeded access for aid to all parts of the Gaza Strip and the timely entry of essential medical supplies, equipment, winter supplies, and shelter materials, given their critical importance in saving lives.
