Wadephul said during a meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Helsingborg, Sweden, on Friday that Germany has consistently affirmed its readiness to contribute to ensuring freedom of navigation.
He added “I do not see a direct NATO mission in the traditional sense in the Strait of Hormuz.”
The German minister stressed his country’s commitment to the transatlantic alliance, affirming that the United States can rely on Germany within the framework of the partnership within the alliance.
On February 28 of last year, America and the Zionist entity launched a new aggression against Iran that lasted 40 days, killing thousands of civilians and targeting schools, hospitals, mosques, and other resources of the Iranian people.
In response to the aggression, Iran launched Operation True Promise 4 against the Zionist entity and American bases in the region, and closed the Strait of Hormuz to the aggressors and their allies.
