“Hamas”: Crimes against Palestinian female prisoners are war crime

Hamas said on Saturday that escalating violations against Palestinian female prisoners in Israeli prisons— including torture, medical neglect, solitary confinement, and denial of basic rights—constitute a war crime and a clear breach of international law, especially the Fourth Geneva Convention.

The movement said 87 Palestinian women are being held in harsh conditions, including pregnant women, sick detainees, and minors, with inadequate healthcare, repeated raids, and administrative detention without charges. It described this as evidence of systematic repression by the Israeli authorities.

Hamas also said the arrest of women over social media posts reflects an escalating policy of organized intimidation.

It urged the United Nations, the International Committee of the Red Cross, and human rights groups to document the violations, secure the release of all female prisoners, and hold Israeli leaders accountable.
