Yemen’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned “in the strongest terms” the Israeli aggression and piracy against the Global Sumud Flotilla, calling it a blatant violation of international law and international humanitarian law.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the ministry strongly denounced “piracy” by Israeli forces, saying dozens of ships were intercepted in international waters and hundreds of activists were detained while attempting to reach the Gaza Strip in an effort to break the blockade.
The ministry urged the international community to take a firm stance to compel the Israeli enemy to release the detained activists, ensure their safety, hold Israel accountable for its ongoing violations, and end the war and blockade imposed on the Palestinian people in Gaza.
It further stated that the Israeli actions reflect “extreme brutality” against activists from around the world who traveled to express solidarity with the Palestinian people and reject the ongoing siege and military escalation on Gaza.
The statement reaffirmed Yemen’s “firm and consistent” position in support of the Palestinian cause, stressing continued backing for the Palestinian people until a “promised victory” is achieved.
