Yemen’s Parliament has called on Saudi Arabia to take the recent warning issued by the leader of the revolution Sayyed Abdul-Malik al-Houthi seriously, urging Riyadh to reconsider its policies and end continued delays, interference, and actions against the Yemeni people.
In a statement issued Saturday, the Parliament warned that the continuation of the blockade, economic pressure, and military escalation would risk dragging the region into a “comprehensive and devastating war” that would ultimately serve only the enemies of the region.
The Parliament stressed that the United States is encouraging Saudi Arabia and regional states to engage in a proxy conflict aimed at exhausting the region’s resources while protecting the Israeli enemy.
Parliament also called on Riyadh to cease interference in Yemen’s internal affairs, stop harming the Yemeni people and their interests, and adhere to the principle of good neighborliness as the only path toward peaceful coexistence.
The statement expressed full support for Sayyed Abdul-Malik’s recent address, describing it as a historic speech that reflected courageous leadership and a clear vision for defending Yemen’s sovereignty, ending the blockade, reclaiming national rights, and rejecting foreign intervention.
Lawmakers renewed their appeal for national unity, urging all political forces and segments of society to set aside internal differences and focus on confronting external challenges, while reiterating demands for an end to the war, the lifting of the blockade, the recovery of looted national resources, and the restoration of territories they said remain under occupation.
The parliament further called for heightened public vigilance and preparedness to safeguard Yemen’s sovereignty, expressing support for the country’s leadership, Armed Forces, and state institutions.
The statement said regional and international parliamentary bodies had previously welcomed peace efforts and the implementation of a roadmap that included a prisoner exchange, the reopening of airports, and measures to ease humanitarian suffering. It stated Saudi Arabia of undermining those efforts through its recent military escalation, including the strike on Sana’a International Airport, which it said was carried out at US direction.
The Parliament urged the international community and the UN Security Council to identify the party responsible for obstructing peace agreements and efforts aimed at achieving a comprehensive and just settlement.
Parliament also criticized Yemeni figures who publicly supported the reported strike on Sana’a Airport, holding Saudi Arabia fully responsible for the attack.
