The Eye of Humanity Center for Rights and Development (also referred to as the Humanity Eye Center), has condemned in the strongest terms the crimes committed by Saudi mercenaries against civilians in Hodeidah and Taiz governorates, which resulted in the martyrdom and injury of several citizens.
The center described the attacks as a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law rules protecting civilians during armed conflicts.
In an official statement, the center reported that the recent attacks included the targeting of homes and residential areas, as well as sniper fire and shelling that struck civilians. In Hodeidah, mercenaries shelled a home in Al-Jarrahi district, killing an elderly man and his daughter, and critically wounding his wife and a relative.
The center stressed that targeting a home sheltering a civilian family constitutes an assault on residents within their own neighborhoods, and held those responsible accountable for the casualties and damage caused. The continued shelling of civilian areas compounds the risks facing Yemeni families in frontline zones.
In Taiz, the center documented the martyrdom of citizen Mohammed Abdullah Ali Saif by sniper fire in Al-Kuraifat village, Sabr Al-Mawadim district. Shelling also struck Wadi Al-Haseen in Khadir district, killing one citizen and wounding another.
The center emphasized that targeting homes, deliberate sniper fire, and shelling of populated areas require investigation and legal accountability. It held Saudi mercenaries fully responsible for the documented crimes, and also held states and entities that support these violations legally and morally accountable for the continued attacks on Yemeni civilians.
The center affirmed it will continue to monitor and document violations and crimes against civilians across Yemen, preserving testimonies and field evidence to ensure victims are not forgotten in the records of criminal aggression.
