The Yemen Scholars Association denounced on Friday statements and accusations made by a senior Saudi cleric (Grand Mufti) Saleh Al-Fawzan against the Yemeni people, characterizing them as grave fabrications and direct incitement.
In an official statement released today, the association rejected claims regarding the targeting of holy sites, describing the allegations as baseless. It noted that such edicts ignore violations against Islamic sacred sites, primarily Al-Aqsa Mosque, as well as the plight of the Palestinian people, arguing that these religious rulings are used to justify Saudi policy in the region.
The association criticized what it called contradictions between religious rhetoric and the Saudi regime’s actions. It pointed out that Riyadh’s recent alliances and the hosting of public events perceived as violating the sanctity of the Two Holy Mosques contradict Islamic teachings, alongside the continued detention of prominent scholars within the Kingdom.
Concluding its statement, the Yemen Scholars Association called on Saudi regime’s scholars to review their stance, speak out against financial and moral corruption, and cease incitement and misrepresentation against Yemen, which it described as a steadfast supporter of the Muslim world’s just causes.
