The official spokesman for the Yemeni Armed Forces, Brigadier General Yahya Sare’e, has announced on Thursday that the air defences managed to shoot down a combat reconnaissance plane of the Saudi-led coalition forces in Najran province, southwestern Saudi Arabia.
Brigadier General Sare’e confirmed in a statement that the plane was hit with a surface-to-air missile of a type which has not yet been revealed to the general public, while it was carrying out hostile actions in the airspace of the Najran front.
He pointed out that the specifications of the aircraft and details of the operation will be published later.
It is notable that this Saudi aircraft was shot down while still operating in Saudi airspace, showcasing the advanced capabilities of Yemen’s anti-aerial defence systems.
