Dozens of Spaniards demonstrated last night in the capital Madrid against the occupied entity, before the match between Real Madrid and Maccabi Tel Aviv in the European Basketball League.
The demonstrators gathered in response to a call from some civil society organizations in solidarity with Palestine and the opposition party “Podemos”, in front of the “Wizink Center” hall where the match was held, which ended in favor of the Spanish team, and the Israeli team suffered a new defeat that put it in the last places in the tournament.
The demonstrators stressed that Israel is exploiting sports to cover up the genocide it is committing in Palestine, and called for the necessity of preventing Israeli teams from participating in international sports competitions.
The protesters carried Palestinian flags and chanted slogans: “Boycott Israel”, “Israel is a criminal”, “Free Palestine”, and “Long live Palestine’s struggle for freedom”.
